Breakfast at Akasha

There's a large selection of baked goods and a small, well-rounded breakfast menu served in the bakery section adjoining the restaurant. The open, airy ambiance: high ceilings with exposed beams, light streaming through the huge windows, is a great for a relaxing, weekend breakfast.

I went there this morning with Win, after his 5 K run. My first instinct was to order the Breakfast BLT Frittata, organic eggs, tomato, arugula and Niman Ranch bacon (am I the only one who thinks of Neiman Marcus when I see this name?). I choose the Spinach and Egg White Frittata instead, feeling guilty for being a spectator at the race instead of running. It was a good choice, even though I prefer whole eggs to egg whites.

The presentation was beautiful. A chicken sausage lay on top of the light and airy, oval shaped frittata. Pecorino and Manchego were hiding in the fluffy spinach frittata. Diced, roasted potatoes accompanied it. Pico de Gallo, butter, jam and toast covered the rest of the plate. Win enjoyed the light Gogi Berry Granola and Yoghurt with fruit piled on top of it. The little samples of bite-size brownies was a great touch to round off the meal.
