Wine Bar: Palate Food + Wine

Great wine selection, fun little plates. This is a real treat for Glendale residents. Win and I met Kelly, Richard and adorable Dalia (my fave 3 year old friend). It was nice to have a place like this to meet in their hood. Is it worth a 45 minute drive from West Hollywood? Not on it's own, but if you find yourself going to the area, you won't be disappointed.

The Porkfolio (love the name) was a plate of charcuterie: prosciutto, la quercia speck, lardo salumi, peperone, spicy soppressata, finnocchiona, toscano and mortadella. Win loved the thin slice of salumi fat (that white stuff in the center of the plate). It reminded me of the fresh pork fat I had at the butcher's shop in Chianti last year.

The basic bread and butter they serve at the table really stood out. Palate makes it fresh and you can tell. Kelly loved it. The 3 cheese plate had tiny pieces of cheese served with roasted grapes on the vine, a great touch!

The salads and vegetarian options were plentiful. We had some vegetarians at the table so we got to sample various dishes with beans, grains and market veggies. Had I done a little investigation ahead of time, I would have ordered the Papillote=Market Vegetables that many are raving about it.

Loved the wine bar space, a better vibe than the dining room. Next time I'll be sure to sit there, at the long table in the center of the room.
