The Cabbage Patch in Beverly Hills

Everyone and their mother seem to know about this place already on day 11. I loved the mix of customers (couples, singles, suits, old people, young people, all ages). There is indoor and outdoor dining, about 16 tables in all, plus some bar stools. You line up to order at the counter, you're given a number, then your food is delivered to your table.

Samir Mohajer, former Chef at Rustic Canyon and Sous Chef at The Little Door brings big taste at reasonable prices to The Cabbage Patch on S. Beverly Blvd. in Beverly Hills. The Cheese Burger and the Chopped Salad at this newly opened, little cafe are sensational.

The Cheese Burger is made with Niman Ranch ground beef, applewood smoked bacon, Tillamook Cheddar, ketchup and aioli, and served on a brioche bun. The juicy burger was cooked to perfection. Fries or slaw come on the side. The slaw is a delicious gourmet salad, nothing like the kind you get in a deli.

The Chopped Salad is almost a double of (and maybe even a little more gourmet) The Jean Leon Original Chopped Salad served at La Scala Beverly Hills. It is made with tiny pieces of cabbage, radicchio, baby romaine, Framani salami, Onetik cheese, chickpeas, Greek oregano and red wine vinaigrette. I talked to Samir about the similarity. He said that he's never been to La Scala.

I'll be back soon to try the other items on the menu like the Pan Roasted Wild Caught Salmon Bowl, the Homemade Falafel, and Eggplant Caponata. Maybe next time I'll avoid waiting in line and order my food to go.

Alli411 Tips:

1. Prevent a headache and save time driving round and round looking for a space on the street and park in the lot.

2. Set something down at a table to reserve your spot while you wait in line to order at the counter.

3. Phone in your order ahead of time so you don't have to wait.
