It's a New Day and a New Year

Phew! You survived last year's festivities. Now to deal with pressing matters: those hunger pains and a hangover. While the hair of the dog that bit you (or that bottle sitting next to your bed) might be tempting, a Bloody Mary might have a few more vitamins. Hungry Cat in Hollywood is open noon to midnight. Between 3-6 pm get half price on cocktails if you dare. Their pub burger or lobster roll just might hit the spot. Or if you're craving something sweet and want to break that resolution already, Kiss My Bundt Bakery is open 10:30 am-7 pm.

I'll be heading over to Pasadena to watch the Rose Bowl Parade and determine which is more fun: seeing it in person or watching it on TV. What will you be doing? No clue? Here's a fun idea: head to the beach at noon and watch the New Year's Day Venice Penguin Swim Club Dive (that's a mouthful) at the Venice Pier. Or, if you're a true adventurist, join the crowd as they run into the freezing ocean water and swim. That's sure to wake you right up.

What ever you end up doing, Happy 2009! It's a new day!
