Food: A Healthy Lunch in West Los Angeles
I had one of those satisfyingly, healthy meals at Food on Pico Blvd. (in West LA) yesterday, the kind that pleased my taste buds, filled me up, yet was nutritious. It may sound odd to you, but I must admit, it does not happen too often. It's hard to find tasty, healthy meals without high fat and major calories. My spinning teachers would be proud.
I ate every bit of the hearty Farmers' Market Herb Salad. No skimping on portions at Food on Pico. Tons of creamy goat cheese, pecan brittle, dried cranberries, and slices of Asian pears sat on a huge mound of greens and herbs. I had a cup of egg salad on the side. No photos of the egg salad; I gobbled it up too quickly. By the time I realized I'd forgotten to take a photo, there was little egg salad left. It had enough capers and dill, for flavor, yet was mostly eggs. The woman at the counter said there was little mayo in it, and it was still creamy. Food on Pico gives Junior's Egg Salad a run for their money.
I'm glad I stumbled on this place. Next time I'll try their Morning Food Sandwich for breakfast: organic eggs, Vermont cheddar, Applewood smoked bacon, Bay's English muffins. Hmm... I fancy one of those right now.

I think I'm gonna duplicate that salad this week.. happen to have some craisans + asian pears at home...
Tony: It's a great one! Make sure to put herbs in the salad to take it up a notch. I like basil, dill, cilantro and mint.
Thanks for the tip. I live on the East side of town so always looking for good places on the West side. Nice blog!
