The Good Ole Days at Pie n' Burger in Pasadena
Pie n' Burger on E. California Ave. was a great restaurant for lunch after a long stroll through the blooming gardens at the Huntington Library in San Marino. Pie n' Burger is a local Pasadena hangout and a trip back in time to the early 60's. Nothing much has changed since then including the decor: formica counters, swivel stools, even the baker has been there since 1970. The burger was fine, as was the grilled cheese and fries. The waitress was refreshing: not overly friendly, instead very helpful. When we were going to order another side order of fries she discouraged us from doing so insisting that we'd already ordered would be sufficient for the table (not something I encounter very often). We wanted to try the famous Ollallieberry pie, they make it homemade at Pie n'Burger, but the berries aren't in season until June. We settled on the Rootbeer Float; nothing wrong with that.
