BLT Steak

BLT Steak, on Sunset in West Hollywood where Le Dome once resided, was packed on Tuesday, a full house. Not Bacon Lettuce and Tomato, it stands for Bistro Laurent Tourondel. Tourondel is the Frenchman behind the wildly successful chain with many locations in New York City, Florida, Washington DC, Chicago, White Plains, Dallas, Miami and Scottsdale.

The place was hopping and I can see why. After opening many other locations, they have achieved mastery, particularly on the decadent popovers they send to the table. They melt in your mouth. The steaks were very good, huge portions, you can share them or take home leftovers. Many people ordered raw shell fish platters that looked quite impressive.

The only disappointment were the acoustics. The combination of the tables merged so close together and many people in the restaurant made it difficult to have a conversation during the meal. Luckily the food was so good that our mouths were kept busy eating instead of talking.
