LICK, Hudson Valley

I happily stumbled upon Hudson, New York last month, the popular weekend vacay New Yorkers call the Upper West West Side. Warren Street, the main drag, features gobs of antique stores, excellent restaurants and the newbie Lick. LOVE the name!

This fab ice cream parlor has delish ice cream, no doubt because super-friendly owner, Michael Harris, stocks the highest quality, natural products from sources as local as possible. They feature Jane’s Ice Cream homemade in small batches in the Hudson Valley. The milk for the milkshakes are supplied by a local farm; cookies are baked in Hudson. You get the picture. The shop is also focused on sustainability using biodegradable paper products, spoons and straws. Love that! “All our ingredients, from the cream to the sugar and fruit, will be the real thing, as will the hot fudge for our sundaes,” Harris says. “The berries for our seasonal compotes will directly from the numerous fruit farms here in our region.”

LICK is open daily, from 12-10 p.m.
