A few weeks ago on a Saturday morning, Win and I drove up the coast to Montecito for surprise party for our dear friend John. His wife, Beverly, planned the birthday brunch celebration at the greenhouse at Stella Mare's restaurant, just a short drive from their home in Solvang. We arrived about a half hour before the surprise occurred. John arrived thinking that he was meeting a few family members. Boy was he surprised when he walked in the greenhouse and was greeted by 50 of his friends and family.
As for most parties of this size, everyone got a salad to start then you had a choice of an entree, Chicken or Eggs Benedict. The salad of mixed greens had crispy red beets, roasted golden beets, Parmesan and a basil vinaigrette. Next, a large portion of Sauteed Chicken Breast with mashed potatoes, julienne vegetables and a lemon-caper sauce, very tasty. The Eggs Benedict with Canadian bacon, red roasted potatoes and Hollandaise sauce also looked good. For dessert, a tower of delicious chocolate cupcakes.
This was a great location for a party. The room had a bar and a couple of couches which made it comfortable to socialize in before sitting down to lunch. Without knowing about prices, I'd recommend the site for throwing an elegant celebration.
