Martha's 22nd Street Grill

Just steps from the sand, this is a fab breakfast spot with an ocean view. The only problem is everyone in the area has the same idea. The place gets packed, especially on weekends. There's an enormous menu, but as far as I'm concerned there are 2 things to get for breakfast: a scramble with french fries on the side.

Yes, french fries for breakfast. It's a new treat of mine that I indulge in from time to time. If I am going to have fries, I might as well have them in the morning, same with chocolate chip cookies. More on the that at another time.

These fries aren't ordinary fried potatoes. They are curled tightly, like a little girl's pigtails, crisp with a hint of cayenne pepper that gives a slight kick. Shake some salt on them, dip them in a little ketchup, perfection.

The inventive scrambles are a treat. The chorizo scramble surprised me. I was expecting scrambled eggs with pieces of chorizo. Instead I discovered finely ground chorizo and eggs. The white corn scramble with fresh corn, Havarti cheese, green onions and herbs was a fresh and sweet surprise. I plan on returning soon to explore the menu.
