Milkshake Cocktails and BLD's Recipe


The last Sunday of every month is Mariah's Milkshake Madness at BLD on Beverly. Pastry Chef Mariah Swan whips up her famous frosty milkshakes from 5-10 pm. Add a little alcohol and you have a milkshake cocktail. There is a bunch of tasty shakes this Sunday. BLD's March Milkshake Menu is below.

For those of you that want to know her secret to making them so tasty, I've scored her Caramel Tequila Milkshake recipe courtesy of Mariah herself. Note that Mariah makes homemade ice cream, so this has been adapted for the rest of us who buy pre-made ice cream. I'm thinking that this would be great with Carmela's Salted Caramel Ice Cream, available Sundays at the Hollywood Farmer's Market.

Caramel Tequila Milkshake
Serves 1, generously

1 cup premium vanilla ice cream
1/4 cup caramel sauce
1/4 cup milk
1 shot tequila

Place all ingredients in a blender (or a milkshake machine) and blend until smooth. For a thicker shake, add more milk. Pour into a chilled glass. Top with whipped cream, if desired.
